Black XP 44 Ultra is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created as part of the Black XP series, by Kirk. It released on January 12, 2010. This bootleg was submitted on July 16, 2025 and appeared on the Untested and Unsorted section on February 5, 2026. It was added to the archive on May 2, 2026.

Description

This bootleg is based on Windows XP SP3, it comes with programs along with more lots of them, which they can be installed optionally on the root via WPI, it comes with themes and lots of wallpapers and screen savers as well, it also comes with driver packs.

On the first boot, it installs some programs and customization utilities, while the WPI will be launched in the "Loader" section to install 3 customization tools, then the machine will reboot.

It comes with it's own autorun, which you can install more apps, which it launches the WPI, which it comes with a lot of programs to install from there.

Other than the XP install itself, the ISO also contains some additional tools:

  • Active@ Boot Disk 5.0.5
  • Hiren's Boot CD 10.1
  • Acronis Multiboot Rescue 2010 :
    • Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 Build 2239
    • Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack Build 6053
    • Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.0 Build 11345
    • Memtest86+ 3.5 and 3.4 (respectively)

It's unattended and preactivated, it was made using nLite 1.4.9.1 and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8, the autorun was made using Autoplay Media Studio 7.5 and the boot menu was made using EasyBoot.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

  • The text-mode setup OS title is changed to "Black XP 44 Ultra Setup", the copying files text is also changed to the said text as well.
  • RocketDock and Windows Sidebar now run on startup, as shortcuts in the Startup folder of All Users.
  • The system properties graphics resembles the look of Windows 7 now.
  • New winver banner.

Notes

Bootleg quirks

  • Since all driverpacks are integrated with the OS, the screen resolution will be set to 1280x1024 on VMWare due to VMWare Tools drivers are included with this bootleg.
  • CyberLink PowerDVD 9 Ultra doesn't work.
  • The log off option in the start menu is not present, but you can log it off by launching it's shortcut on the desktop, there is also another shortcut along with it to stand by your computer.

WPI

  • For the Corel PaintShop Pro Installer, you need to set the bootleg's release date to install it correctly, otherwise it will fail to install as it shows an error with the configuration with the serial key.
  • Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is not present in the WPI list, but it's available on the WPI root in the CD.

  • The CD root comes with new icon.
  • The volume label is set to "BLACK XP 44 ".
