Windows 7 Live CD + LEX Live is an all-in-one Windows 7 SP1 and Windows XP SP3 live CD bootleg, which was created by Xemom1 and STARTLEX. It was released in January 24, 2013, and was added to the archive on February 6, 2023.

Description

The bootleg is a Windows 7 and Windows XP live CD that comes with lot of programs and tools.

It comes with a modified bootmgr (Windows Boot Manager), through it, you can run Windows 7 Live CD at 512 MB RAM for minimum, or LEX Live which it's based on Windows XP live CD

On the first boot of the Windows 7 Live CD, it will extract programs that are packaged to WIM file found on the CD root, then it starts installing them itself, while the LEX XP Live starts the XPE Loader which it configures settings and installs drivers, unlike the Windows 7 Live CD one, it doesn't have much programs.

The Windows 7 Live CD comes with a new start menu, which is Classic Start Menu 3.5.0.

The LEX Live comes with WindowBlinds Vista Skin by default, though the software is hidden.

The Windows 7 Live CD was made using WinBuilder, and the LEX Live was made using BartPE.

Bootleg quirks

  • On Windows 7 Live CD, some programs don't work because of a missing MFC42.dll file.
  • There's an additional start menu item called "POPULAR", which it contains installed programs during the first boot.
