Windows Ultimate Workstation 2010 is a bootleg Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter RTM edition, which was created by Benjamin Samson of Rockers International Team. It was released on August 18, 2010. This bootleg was submitted on July 16, 2025 and appeared on the Untested and Unsorted section on February 5, 2026. It was added to the archive on May 2, 2026.

This bootleg has the unique attribute of being a Windows Server bootleg, which you don't really see often.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter RTM ISO. The OS has received a new dark theme with gold icons. It comes with the usual Rockers fare, themes, programs, a large gadget set, internet shortcuts to their website, a new autorun, the works. The built-in games have been restored (and is evident because the casing with the names of the games are slightly different).

When setup completes, the following will happen:

  • The registry script lastphase.reg will be applied (these are registry tweaks for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced)
  • The INFs xinput9_1_0_x64.inf and xinput9_1_0_x86.inf will be installed
  • 4 VBS scripts (Sidebar1, Sidebar2, Notes1 and Notes2) get executed. The Sidebar script tries to add localized names for the Windows Sidebars back in, and the Notes script
  • Windows Sidebar (both 32-bit and 64-bit) will get run with the /RegServer parameter, to activate it
  • A slew of DLL files get registered, namely gameux.dll in both 32-bit and 64-bit, sbdrop.dll and wlsrvc.dll (Windows Sidebar files) and DirectMusic files
  • A taskbar pin VBS script attempts to pin View Switcher (a shortcut in the Windows directory) and Windows Media Player, but it doesn't work

Through the autorun, you can:

  • Install the bootleg
  • Launch ATI and NVIDIA Graphics Card Tweaker (will inform you that the tool can't be used if you're not running the bootleg)
  • Install ATI Catalyst
  • Access online help and support
  • Launch RT Windows 7 Registry Tweaker 2.1 (will inform you that the tool can't be used if you're not running the bootleg)
  • Download RT Server Customizer

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using RT 7 Lite, and the autorun was made with AutoPlay Media Studio.

Changes from Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM

Minor changes

  • The setup OS name is now "Windows Ultimate Workstation". This name differs in the setup copying steps. 'Expanding ... files' is unchanged and 'Installing ... features' and 'workstations' just say "Workstation". It also differs in the System page and the About Windows dialog - there it's called "Windows Ultimate Workstation 2010".
  • The login strings have also changed. 'Starting ...' is now 'Launching ...'.
  • Every visual effect except Smooth edges of screen fonts and Use visual styles on windows and buttons is disabled.
  • New desktop context menu items. You can access a plethora of system locations and apps, along with God Mode. My Computer's context menu shares some of those menu items.
  • There is now an Other section with reasonable locations like Administrative Tools, Device Manager, Programs and Features and then there's weird ones like Tablet PC Settings, Run and Windows CardSpace.
  • New OEM branding (support hours and website), along with e-mail and website information in the System page. New logo as well
  • New Winver banner
  • New Windows Media Player skin

Changes in pre-desktop procedures

  • New setup background and partially transparent setup window graphics
  • New setup performance screen graphics
  • The OOBE is skipped
  • New login background and banner

Look and feel

  • New default theme and wallpaper
  • 31 new themes included
  • The default screensaver is now Bubbles
  • New icon set
  • New sound set from the Samsung Windows XP theme. The shutdown sound is now the same as the logoff sound.
  • New gadget set. 227 new gadgets included
  • The Getting Started page's banner now depicts a sunset

  • 5 new tracks from Michael Learns To Rock's Blue Night album added to Sample Music

Notes

Bootleg quirks

  • By default, Fluent Notepad won't work because it needs .NET Framework 4.0.30319, and this bootleg doesn't have it.

CD contents and other info

  • The CD label is set to "Ultimate_Workstation".
  • The autorun will open an intro video in fullscreen and then proceed to the standard Rockers autorun.
  • The autorun song is Our Days by Yanni from the Yanni Voices album.

Autounattend.xml metadata

  • The logon count is set to 9999.
  • The machine OOBE is skipped, while the user OOBE will not be skipped.
  • The timezone is Pacific Standard Time.
  • The EULA page is hidden and accepted by default.
  • The network location is Home.
