Windows XP Alien Spirit is a bootleg Windows XP SP2 edition, which was created by amc. It released on April 16, 2008. This bootleg was submitted on July 16, 2025 and appeared on the Untested and Unsorted section on February 5, 2026. It was added to the archive on June 29, 2026.

Description

The ISO is a modified Windows XP SP2 ISO, it's themed after Alien, it comes with programs, updates, themes, lots of wallpapers, Driver Packs with version 8.01 RC2.

It comes with its own autorun, which you have to install more softwares, like .NET Framework 3.0 (including its SP1 version) and 3.5, Office 2003 (including its compatibility), Office 2007 (which is named as Blue Edition; includes the SP1 version) and more multimedia codecs to install, additionally you can launch the Windows Post-Install tool with version 6.2, which it comes with lots of programs to install as well.

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.5 Beta 2 on Windows XP SP3 RC2 (5508 Refresh), and the autorun was made using StartCD 1.2 Build 94.

Notes

Bootleg quirks

  • There are 2 folders on the desktop, which the first one has tweaks that owned by , and the second one has 7 more skins for WindowBlinds other than the default one, which they can be shown in the gallery.
  • The "My Favourite theme" theme doesn't apply properly because of the unknown visual style being not present, at least the wallpaper is applied.
  • There's a hidden file present inside the themes folder, which it contains gibberish name, renaming the extension to ".theme" will apply the Windows Classic theme with white toolbar.
  • Norton Ghost 14.0 will crash during its initialization.
  • The Perfect Disk 2008 software is originally hidden, but you can go to it by accessing the program files path, then to the Raxco folder.
  • Trillian software doesn't work because of the "zlib1.dll" file is missing.
  • Since the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 installer from the CD root is an online installer, it will not work with or without an internet connection because of the server being down for a while.

WPI

  • ESET NOD32 AntiVirus software can't install, which it doesn't work.
  • There's a different version of Notepad++ (which it's 4.7), which it's available in the WPI's programs directory, but not listed in the WPI tool as they listed their newer version (4.8.2) instead.

CD contents and other info

  • Inside the CD, there are many last session files, which having many changes, settings and tweaks applied, even with addons and updates added from its original copy.
  • For some reason, every directory and file that are on the CD having Internet Explorer link icons in front of their icons.
  • The CD root has a new autorun icon.
  • The volume label is set to XPAlienSpirit.
