Windows XP Coccinelle Edition 3.0 Métamorphose is a bootleg Windows XP SP2 edition, which was created as part of the Coccinelle Edition series by Coccinelle of Fredisland.net. It released on January 1, 2007, and was added to the archive on July 25, 2024.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 ISO. What's changed from the previous version, more (few) programs, games and updates added, new themes, wallpapers and screensavers are included, as well as new mass-storage drivers and lots of registry tweaks included on the start menu, the Windows XP Installation disc is copied to the hard disk root, so the bootleg can be reinstalled without losing data, and most notably, new enhancements applied and updated, such as the setup background which doesn't longer use the modified Windows XP setup background from the previous versions, a new OOBE video, and a new boot menu (comes with 5 options) along with a new pre-boot (splash) screen, though the boot screen is stock.

It's partially unattended and practivated, it was made using nLite.

Bootleg quirks

  • You will find a "BONUS" folder on the Desktop. In it, you will see:
    • A link to install Microsoft Update.
    • A folder that contains the contribution to the members for the project :
      • Crabe (contains a wallpaper that shows a scanned paper with a hand-drawn bootleg's logo)
      • Danny (contains a screensaver and 2 wallpapers with different resolutions)
      • Epoc (contains a wallpaper)
      • Mizou (contains 5 wallpapers and a theme (which is broken, applying it's visual style will work))
  • Calculator, Notepad and Paint and Wordpad are moved to the Programs directory on the start menu.
  • Add or Remove Programs control panel applet is added to the start menu.
  • The Start menu now uses the Classic style by default.
  • Internet Explorer comes preloaded with many bookmarks.
  • The Explorer toolbar no longer has text.
