Windows XP Special Edition is a bootleg Windows XP SP2 edition, which was created by egyptianhak (real name: Ibrahim Saad). It was released on December 12, 2005, and was added to the archive on October 1, 2025 (after almost 20 years).

It is the earliest known bootleg which originates from Egypt.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 ISO, with XPize transformation pack included, and some programs. It comes with its own WPI and Boot selector. it also includes a new screensaver which was made by the same author.

It is unattended and preactivated. It was made using nLite and the bootselector was made using EasyBoot.

Bootleg quirks

• The first theme "&Use transition effects for menus and to" (aero.theme aka VistaXP) does not work.
• Google is set as the default Internet homepage.
• The time zone is set to Egyptian Standard Time Zone (GMT +02:00).

• The CD label is set to "WXPSP3.SPECIAL".
• The CD has a new autorun, but the regular autorun also remained.
• The name of bootleg is misspelled as "Sepcial Edition" in autorun.
• A Product key is included in the CD root as a text file.
