Manley Evangelista's Windows CE Bootable CD is a bootleg Windows CE boot CD distributed by Manley Evangelista that was created sometime in August of 2013, being added into the archive on February 26th, 2023. It used to be made available as a MEGA download on a YouTube video of his titled "Running Windows CE on a Dell laptop" with the original filename of "WinCEBoot x86.iso".

Description

Unlike most bootlegs which usually edit an existing Windows distribution (especially 32 bit ones), this one is a DR-DOS based boot disk of 4 Windows CE versions which are virtualized with a DOS port of Microsoft's Device Emulator which is a stripped down version of Virtual PC 2007 used for virtualizing the Windows CE firmware.

On the first boot, you get detailed instructions on how to operate the boot disk and take advantage of its included executables along with a listing of the available Windows CE versions.

The four Windows CE versions are as follows:

  • Windows CE 3.0 (named "HPC2000" on the CD)
  • Windows CE 4.0 .NET (PDA) (named "WCE40PDA" on the CD)
  • Windows CE 4.0 .NET (Webpad) (named "WCE40WEB" on the CD)
  • Windows CE 5.0 (named "WCE50" on the CD)

Then, there is a disclaimer for the first version that warns the user that the aforementioned version may not display correctly as the emulated display driver doesn't support the VESA standard.

There is nothing else of note to document in this section, aside from it being the first Windows CE bootleg to ever be in the archive.

Changes from Windows CE

  • None

Notes

  • There is a VESA test executable which prints all of the available screen resolutions that can be used by the included device emulator.
