Windows XP NASA Second Generation 2010 is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by Fares Adham. It released to the Arabic forum bramjnet.com on October 10, 2009 @ 17:03:29, and was added to the archive on February 7, 2023.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO. It comes with many new programs and themes and wallpapers. It has software that drops to the user profile directory which you have to install manually.

The ISO was made using nLite 1.3.5 on Windows XP SP3. The ISO was touched up with UltraISO 9.0.0.2336.

• New setup background. The setup billboard text has been changed

Extra software commentary

• You are expected to install the extra programs to paths which are not made entirely clear. Only in the registry files are you given exactly what paths to use.
• TrueTransparency comes with a copy of a modified version of exclude.dat, with extra entries that are not present in the final file.
• The IconPackager/Explorer crack was made by Orthodox, and the music is a tracker song called "Industrial motherf.".
• The included test song in J.River Media Center is called "Fares Alhamy" or "فارس احلامى" in Arabic.

Naming oddities

• The "Aurorarion Darkside XP", "FatalE", "ProBLU", "Nexus", "OpusOS", "Peony", "Sentinel", "v1p3", "Vienna-Xp", "War3ORC", "WHMxII", "Wood", and "XoddX" themes are just visual styles, without a .theme file attached. Unlike the others, the "XoddX" theme has its visual style in a subfolder.
• The "betti", "BLACKICE", "GloWorm", "Golden", "LeopardX", "PlaceMonk", "DzartPAL", "Safari", "Warcraft", "XTS" and "Grey" themes are all packaged in their own folder, which contain their .theme file and a subfolder with the msstyles along with everything else.
• The "fares", "orb", "rainy" and "venom" visual styles are orphans. They do not possess any other external assets.
• Several themes have wrong casing/alternate names/been misspelled/mislabeled (this is for the packaged themes):

Commentary on the themes themselves

• The "rainy" and "venom" msstyles are broken. Trying to apply them will both result in a "Theme exceeds allowed size" error. To apply them successfully, reselect their color scheme and click "Apply". The themes are both based on the Luna theme's Silver color scheme, therefore they load assets from there.
• The "BLACKICE" and "PlaceMonk" themes' sound paths point to sounds from a foreign version of Windows.
• The "GlowThin" theme is just the "GloWorm" theme, but using its "GloThin" color scheme.
• The "LeopardX" theme has a wallpaper, but its .theme file does not use it.

Bootleg quirks

• The Normal Select and Help Select cursors are set to their stock Windows Default Black variant, while all the other cursors are Ubuntu themed.
• There are 49 deleted wallpapers in the wallpaper's thumbnail cache.
