Windows Aero Style is a bootleg Windows XP edition, which was created by an unknown author. It released on April 10, 2010 and was added to the archive on January 26, 2024.
Description
The bootleg is a modified version of Windows XP SP3 to look like Windows 7. It is partially unattended and also preactivated (although you have to do this manually)
The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.9.1 and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8 on Windows Vista SP2. The WPI used was a batch script to run all the installers silently.
Changes from Windows XP SP3
Minor changes
- The My Computer and My Documents icons now show up on the desktop.
- Administrative Tools now shows up in My Computer.
Changes in pre-desktop procedures
- The setup now has a Windows Vista look.
Look and feel
- New default theme which replaces Luna. It resembles Windows 7.
- Two new themes, which aim to make the OS look more like Windows Vista and 7.
- The boot screen, pre-OOBE and login screen has been changed to look like Windows Vista Home Premium.
Notes
Bootleg quirks
- Two options for installing software is specified. Once in the Windows Unattended CD Creator settings file and once in the nLite last session file. The nLite one is used instead, for some odd reason.
- In setup, the system will report an error saying
user32.dll
was relocated in memory. This does not affect the final system. - There are two software directories on the CD, and the one used is
AeroSoftware
CD contents and other info
- The CD label is set to "WinLite", the default CD label for nLite ISOs.
