MicroXP is a bootleg build of Windows XP SP3 created by eXPerience. It was released on June 22, 2008, and was added to the archive on December 12, 2021. MicroXP is one of eXPerience's most popular bootlegs alongside Tiny7. MicroXP has many, many variants and versions, such as MicroXP 0.82 by Dark Reverser, and many more.

Description

The bootleg is a heavily stripped down Windows XP SP3 ISO. On first boot up, it applies several registry tweaks and settings. It is unattended and preactivated.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

  • Most programs and drivers have been removed.
  • Like most slim XP bootlegs, the setup now uses the classic Windows 2000 style and is partially unattended.
  • The logging on splash screen logo has been replaced with appropriate MicroXP branding.
  • Several settings have been added to My Computer, like opening msconfig, services, editing the registry, etc.
  • OEM branding has been added.
  • Protected operating system files, file extensions, and hidden files are now shown by default.

Software

  • Browzar 1.5.0.0 Black

Notes

  • The bundled browser was one of the browsers originally installed on the early CollabVM VMs, along with Green Browser (not in this bootleg).
  • Google Chrome marks the ISO as "dangerous", so you will have to allow it to download.
