Windows XP BlackCrystal™ v8 is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by Peruxxo (aka El Pejeman). It released on November 25, 2008, and was added to the archive on October 9, 2023.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO. It comes with many themes. There are plenty of programs on the CD which you have to install manually. There is a LEEME executable which just pops up a bunch of VBS message boxes:

It is unattended and preactivated. The ISO was made using nLite 1.4.9.1 on Windows XP SP3.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

  • The System Properties has been modified to look more Vista-like. The OS name is even changed to Vista.
  • The Run icon is changed
  • The Winver banner and bar is changed. The Vista banner in particular is from Isso Project

Changes in pre-desktop procedures

  • New setup graphics. It is now Windows Vista styled.
  • The OOBE is skipped. The pre-OOBE is skipped as well.

Look and feel

  • New default theme, and wallpaper
  • 9 new themes included
  • All of the default wallpapers have been deleted.

Bootleg quirks

  • CDBurnerXP will not run by default.
