Windows Magi SP2 is an bootleg Windows XP SP2 edition, which was meticulously crafted by muhamed29 (also known as Mohamed Yoosuf). It released on December 28, 2007, and was temporarily added to the archive on April 1, 2024.
Abstraction
The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 ISO. It has been heavily themed to look like Windows Vista, even going as far to use all kinds of special programs and tools to make the OS look and feel as much like Windows Vista as possible. It comes with 5 wallpapers and 5 cursor sets. Other than that, not much to offer there.
Probably the most intriguing thing about this bootleg is that the entire setup procedure has been reworked, almost as if a custom setup engine has been put in its place - very unusual for what would otherwise just be your everyday Arabic Windows bootleg. On close inspection, it looks like an in-house setup engine with an intuitive design (therefore being very easy to extract data out of and put it here on this article for you guys to gawk at) was used.
Several default programs have been replaced with new versions made specifically for the bootleg.
It is preattended and unactivated. The bootleg was not made using uvLite.

Notes
Bootleg quirks
- Calculator is a stripped down version of the Windows XP Calculator, with buttons from the Royale theme. The Multiply, Minus and Period buttons are hand-drawn for some reason. Only the number pad, the CE button, basic mathematical operations, the Square Root and Equals buttons remain in this version of Calculator.
- Control Panel's Explorer window title has 2 spaces in it.
- My Documents' Explorer window title is "My Douments". When you look through the subfolders of My Documents, the window title does not update.
- The My Videos folder is completely empty.
- Paint runs fullscreen now. It is actually quite similar to Windows Doors' Paint program.
- Space Fighter has an animated icon. The rest of the icons and labels all have inconsistent sizes.
- System Properties displays fake information. Its background is fully transparent.
- The Explorer breadcrumb bar does not update beyond 2 levels at a time.
- The Explorer is very limited in what you can do. One of the most important errors of the custom Explorer at play in this OS, is you cannot create any files or folders through this interface. As it stands, the filesystem in this OS is practically read-only unless you look inside its disk (QCOW2 format, or VDI/VHD if you're uncool).
- The Mouse icon in the Control Panel just shows a picture of a mouse. In later versions of this mod, it will actually cycle through 5 cursor sets.
- The Pong game is completely broken, you have no control over your input at all. The ball is fully frozen in place. The CPU counter will increment every half second, therefore you will always lose everytime.
- The search bar in the Explorer does not work. When you click the Search button, the input field just gets cleared. The Enter button does nothing. This is true for the Start menu as well.
- The sidebar's clock shows Roman numbers, to much of my delight.
- The taskbar clock is fully selectable.
- The taskbar item list straight up doesn't exist.
- There is now a Links folder in My Documents, it has 6 internet shortcuts in it.
- There is now a button on the desktop that allows you to invert the screen at will.
- Time & Date, Remove/Add Programs and Updates Automaticly (sic) do not work on the Control Panel. Additionally, you can only access the Control Panel through My Computer.
- Tour Windows MAGI will function and work just like any other "tour" program. However, all of the dialogue has been sped up. This is for comedic value.
- When "Run" is clicked on the Start menu, an animation is played instead.
- When you let go of dragging the desktop icons pertaining to the games, you will run the game anyway afterwards.
- When you move a window, the icon moves along with it as well.
- Windows Media Player, among other programs in this bootleg, is in a fixed position. It is just a compressed JPEG image of Windows Media Player 11 with silly looking visualizations in its place, which can only play 2 media files.
- WordPad is just a static image of the stock Windows XP WordPad with the Silver color scheme of the Luna theme applied. The font name is set to "SUPERSAIYAN", the font size is "1000" and the font weight is set to "DRAGON BALL Z". The text box now says "Type Your Stuff." by default as well.
- You can cycle through a fixed set of wallpapers with a button on the sidebar.
- You can only access all of 5 pages in the Explorer. The Back/Next buttons are hardcoded to go through a list of predefined pages.
- You can't actually shut down the OS from the Start menu. It won't actually shut the computer off, it will only display a "It's now safe to shut down your computer" style screen.
- You cannot access the C: drive at all from the Explorer.
- You double-click on desktop icons like in stock Windows, but you single click on the desktop icons leading to the games.
- Spoilers in the Quiz game, DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T GOT TO THE LAST QUESTION YET:
both of the answers are wrong in the last question lol
System information
- The full name is set to "King of Virus (BETA)".
