Silent XP is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by THE MMMH Company (or THE MMMH Cooperation (sic)). It released on August 6, 2011, and was added to the archive on April 6, 2024.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO, with OnePiece IE8 Update Pack 2.2.0 integrated. It comes with many new themes and wallpapers, and programs.

On the first boot of the OS, a post-setup program installer will run which will install all of the included themes/wallpapers, and additional programs.

It comes with its own boot selector. Through it, you can access Symantec Ghost 11.5 Corporate Edition (cracked, registered to Imran I jaz), Acronis True Image Enterprise Server 8.1 build 945 and Norton PartitionMagic Pro Server 8.05 build 1371.

It comes with its own autorun. Through it, you can install EasyDrv (DriverPacks version 901r3), the very same modifications and programs this bootleg comes with and view a looping 3D animation made by the author which is contained in a Adobe Flash Player 7.0 r19 projector.

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8, the autorun used was AutoPlay Media Studio Trial and the boot selector used was EasyBoot 5.1.

Minor changes

  • The System Properties dialog now has a new logo
  • The Winver banner is changed

Changes in pre-desktop procedures

  • New setup graphics. There is now only one billboard slide. The progress bar is now cyan on blue, all of the setup text is now blue as well. The Windows XP logo at the top left now says "THE MMMH cooperation" (sic).
  • New boot graphics

  • New default theme and wallpaper
  • 23 new themes included
  • 33 new wallpapers included. All of the default wallpapers except Bliss have been removed
  • 4 new screensavers included (2 of them replacing the default screensavers)
  • New icon set. Many icons have been replaced. However, on the desktop, only the My Network Places and Recycle Bin icons are replaced
  • New cursor set. 12 new cursor sets included
  • New Windows Vista sound scheme
  • 2 new font packs (78 and 65 fonts (59 duplicates)) included
  • New avatar set. 35 avatars included

Notes

Bootleg quirks

  • WinRAR has a rarreg file with no key in it. Also, a registry script for it has directives to point ShellExtBMP to "C:\Program Files\WinRar\Win theme\WinRAR_Jr_64x64\RarSmall.bmp", which does not exist, because there is no WinRAR_Jr_64x64 folder inside the Win theme folder. The file RarSmall.bmp is in Win theme, but not WinRAR_Jr_64x64.
  • Most of the desktop shortcuts leading to the additional programs (especially in the Start menu's All programs section) still have the .exe extension in their filename.

CD contents and other info

  • The CD label is set to "Silent_XP".
  • The CD comes with its own custom icon, which is a picture of Tux the penguin.

WINNT.SIF metadata

  • The full name and organization is set to "SILENT_XP" and "THE MMMH....".
  • The computer name is set to "SILENT_XP".
