LiteXP is a bootleg Windows edition created by an unknown author, which was created on 1 October 2021 and was uploaded to the archive on 11 January 2022. It is the third smallest Windows XP bootleg in the archive, behind Windows XP 75 MB edition and PicoXP.
Description
The OS is an attempt to make Windows XP extremely small, while still being somewhat usable. The base ISO is 95 MB, and manages to install in only about two minutes. The network driver version is self-explanatory, it is the same, but with Internet Explorer and networking drivers present.
Changes from Windows XP
- Many programs, wallpapers and themes have been removed, leaving only Windows Classic, Notepad, Explorer, Command Prompt, Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard and Volume Control behind.
- The classic logon screen is enabled by default, and there is not a way to change it back by normal means, as the User Accounts control panel applet has been removed.
- Many leftover components are non-functional due to several dependencies removed.
- The setup from Windows XP is not used, instead the one from Windows 2000 is used.
