LiteXP is a bootleg build of Windows XP SP3, which was created by an unknown author. It released on October 1, 2021, and was added to the archive on January 11, 2022.

Description

The OS is an attempt to make Windows XP extremely small, while still being somewhat usable. The base ISO is 95 MB, and manages to install in around two minutes. The network driver version is self-explanatory, it is the same, but with Internet Explorer and networking drivers present.

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.9.3 on Windows XP SP3.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

  • Many leftover components are non-functional due to several dependencies removed.
  • Many programs, wallpapers and themes have been removed, leaving only Windows Classic, Notepad, Explorer, Command Prompt, Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard and Volume Control behind.

Changes in pre-desktop procedures

  • The setup from Windows XP is not used - instead, the one from Windows 2000 is used.
  • The classic logon screen is enabled by default, and there is not a way to change it back by normal means, as the User Accounts control panel applet has been removed.

Look and feel

  • The theme is now set to Windows Classic by default. Luna has been removed.
