Windows Aero Style is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by an unknown author. It released on April 10, 2010 and was added to the archive on January 26, 2024.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO. It is themed to look like Windows 7. It comes with a WPI, which is just a batch script to run all the installers silently.

It is partially unattended and also preactivated (although you have to do this manually). The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.9.1 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

  • The My Computer and My Documents icons now show up on the desktop.
  • Administrative Tools now shows up in My Computer.
  • System Properties and the About Windows dialog are now displayed in the "System" font. The System Properties dialog cuts off a lot of the right side because it has not been resized to account for the new Windows Vista look it has been given. Additionally, the About Windows dialog has been made a little bigger, and now has a slightly stretched Windows Vista Home Premium banner.

Changes in pre-desktop procedures

  • The setup now has a Windows Vista look.
  • The boot screen, pre-OOBE and login screen has been changed to look like Windows Vista Home Premium.

Look and feel

  • New default theme, and wallpaper. It resembles Windows 7.
  • 2 new themes included

Software

Software on the CD (WPI)

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.0 r22 (WinBorgXP repack)
  • AntiWPA 3.4.6
  • Ashampoo Burning Studio 9.05
  • IObit Game Booster 1.1 (WinBorgXP repack)
  • Kels' CPL Bonus Pack 9.4.8
  • Mozilla Firefox 3.0.19
  • Sysinternals Suite
  • TuneUp Utilities 2009

Customization Utilities

  • RocketDock 1.3.1
  • TrueTransparency (comes with 1 new theme, Noir)

Notes

Bootleg quirks

  • Two options for installing software is specified. Once in the Windows Unattended CD Creator settings file, and another in the nLite last session file. The nLite one is used instead, for some odd reason.
  • In setup, an error message saying user32.dll was relocated in memory will pop up. This does not affect the installation in any way.
  • There are two software directories on the CD, and the one used is AeroSoftware. The other Software folder is empty.
  • The setup does not accept the key provided, as it is a volume key, and this ISO is a retail copy.

CD contents and other info

  • The CD label is set to "WinLite", the default CD label for nLite ISOs.
