The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 distribution, which is packaged as a Norton Ghost file. The install procedure is simple - the CD will boot you into the Windows 98 startup disk which has been modified to provide you with links to a bundled copy of Norton Ghost. Once you proceed into launching Norton Ghost, it will first initialize the CD drivers necessary for Ghost to detect the CD and be able to restore files, then it will launch Ghost to automatically restore the image for you.
It comes with some themes, a wallpaper and some programs. It is really barebones. Even back then, there were more complex and feature packed Windows XP bootlegs such as the early [[Windows XP Gold 5.5|Windows XP Gold]] series (not to be confused with [[Gold Windows XP 2016|the one produced by a certain team]])
It is preactivated.
== Changes from Windows XP SP2 ==
=== Bootleg quirks ===
* StyleXP is meant to run on startup, but due to a really high version number, it won't work. UXTheme was patched with UltraUXThemePatcher to work around this.
=== CD contents and other info ===
* The install inside the Ghost image is dated August 19, 2003. Wow! It would've ran XP SP1(a) at the time, since SP2 wasn't available in 2003 yet. It was upgraded to SP2 around July 20, 2004. Both images on the CD are dated July 20, 2004, even though there are files more recent than that in the actual images. The Ghost image was made in Norton Ghost 7.60, according to Ghost Explorer.
* The install in the Ghost image is formatted as FAT32. Yeah
* You can install Norton Commander straight from the CD, in the "NC" folder.
* There are binaries for PowerQuest Partition Magic 8.0 in the CD root, but there is no way to access them normally.
