Windows XP Game Edition 2010 is a bootleg Windows edition created by VXK SOFT released in 2010 and added to the archive on January 3rd, 2023.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 Russian ISO which styles the OS with a Windows Vista theme and includes some updates and drivers. The bootleg is very barebones and in fact strips a lot of things out, including things such as unnecessary services and programs. In an ironic twist, it even removes the standard games despite it being titled "Game Edition"! It is unattended and preactivated.

The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.9.1.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

  • New setup background, it being the MSN butterfly
  • New Vista-like boot screen, with the progress bar recolored to orange
  • New login screen, with Aurora background and a glass Windows XP logo
  • New desktop wallpaper
  • New Vista theme
  • New Vista sound scheme
  • New Aero cursor scheme
  • All of the user profile pictures have been replaced with ones from Vista
  • The My Computer icon is changed to a iMac icon

Software

  • Adobe Flash Player 10

Customization Utilities

  • VistaDriveIcon

Drivers

  • Mass Storage Drivers

Updates

  • Windows Media Player 11 (in Russian)
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Root Certificate Updates 2010
  • Microsoft XML 4.0
  • DirectX June 2010

Notes

  • The Vista theme included in the bootleg is notable for having a pixel-accurate taskbar, which is not seen in any other Vista themes bundled in any other bootleg. Very impressive for such an old theme, as the msstyles file is dated November 2006.
