PlaceholderOS is a bootleg Examplenix Update Pack 1 edition, which was created by nft_ptr (also known as John Doe). It released in 1900, and was added to the archive on January 1, 2023.

Examplenix has some other unique bootlegs as well, such as "FPO 32-bit Edition".

Description

The OS is a modified Examplenix Update Pack 1 ISO. It adds some new programs and wallpapers. It comes with a tin can and a string to easily communicate between 2 different continents. It comes with 293581 new wallpapers, 42 fonts, 3000 new cursors, and a portable coffee machine with void* flavor and time machine which can go both ways back a trillion years attached to it, but remains mostly stock from Examplenix. It only has a single theme called "Default Style" added.

Changes from Examplenix Service Pack 1

  • New text-mode setup text, along with graphical setup. The graphical setup UI has been completely redesigned
  • New boot screen graphics
  • New login graphics, which is very much a product of stable diffusion
  • New wallpaper set. The default wallpaper has been replaced with a 123 one.

Software

  • ExampleOrg Spreadsheet 1900
  • Kid Pix
  • UndefinedCo Word Editor 1900

Customization Utilities

  • VisualTaskTips
  • VistaDriveIcon

Games

  • Pepsi-Man
  • Professional Minesweeper (cracked, registered to The Darts)
  • Postal 2
  • Solitaire
  • Spider Solitaire

Notes

  • The system has more placeholder strings then it's source. Not enough tin cans to provide satisfactory results, for sure.
  • The console colors are now white on black instead of black on white.
  • This is a placeholder article. Do not take anything in this here article seriously, or as fact in any circumstances. Any references to non-fictional entities are purely coincidental. This is the Notes section. In here, you can put any particularly interesting things you find in the bootleg itself here.
  • It is generally recommended to be mostly serious in your writing, but you may relax that a little bit in this Notes section.
