Windows 8.1 Fortnite Edition is a Windows bootleg edition created by an unknown author, released in June 2018.

Description

The OS was first uploaded to the (now defunct) CollabVM FTP Server, where the author stated his intentions to submit it to TeamOS. The OS was made using NTLite. A few components relating to VPNs and the immersive control panel are removed. Other than that, the OS is mostly a stock install.

Changes from Windows 8.1

  • The user avatar is changed to the Fortnite logo.
  • New Fortnite wallpaper.
  • Most of the telemetry has been disabled.
  • Two installers are added to the desktop, both in Public and the user's desktop directory. One is a Epic Games Launcher (Fortnite) installer, and another is a repackaged Discord installer with an old version of Discord Canary.
  • Three Discord token stealer trojans have been added in the Startup directory.

Software

  • Fortnite
  • Discord Canary
  • Chrome

Notes

  • The author apparently used a Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro ISO to create this OS and used Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter as their host OS.
