Windows 8 Elite Black VR2 is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition created by Mohamed Elshinawy of Magic Team released in 2012 and added to the archive on August 6th, 2022.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO which has a Windows 7 theme. It has a boot selector integrated, which comes with Partition Magic 8.2, Active@ Password Changer (Password Reset 3) and Norton Ghost 8.5. The first and last ones run off of a Windows ME RAM disk while the second runs off of FreeDOS. It is unattended and preactivated.

Despite the OS name being Windows 8, this bootleg has Windows 7 branding. The only Windows 8 related branding is in the log in wallpaper, which is from Windows 8 Milestone 3.

This bootleg was made using nLite and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8.

Changes from Windows XP

  • New boot screen with Windows 8 branding and a Windows Vista loading bar
  • New setup background. Time count down is moved to the bottom left while the progress bar is on the bottom right
  • Barely any themes added
  • New icons
  • Several new wallpapers
  • OOBE is skipped
  • The OOBE video is changed to a rather strange one that looks to last 30 seconds
  • The Desktop Properties dialog is styled to look like the Windows 7 one. The themes selector has been replaced with a fake one
