Windows XP SP2 Live CD May 2008 (version 0.97.1 beta) is a bootleg Windows XP SP2 live CD, which was created by SOPORIFIC. It released on June 2, 2008, and was added to the archive on April 6, 2024.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 distribution. It comes with a boot selector integrated.

It comes with many programs integrated. It comes with one wallpaper.

The boot selector was made using CD Shell 2.1.

Minor changes

The Start menu is now in the classic style
The Explorer toolbar has been rearranged slightly. The Up button is now the first item in line and is separated accordingly.
New Explorer throbber picture
OEM branding is included, along with Support Information

Bootleg quirks

The "show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key" feature has been enabled by default.

CD contents and other info

The ISO has been modified by an external source on December 25, 2008. A file from May 15, 2009 named "xpkey.exe" has been added to the CD root.
There is a program on the CD root, in a folder titled "MakeCD". It is a batch script which creates bootable ISOs out of unpacked Windows XP distributions, typically live CDs.
There is plenty of documentation on disk. There is a README on the CD root and then there is the "Docs" folder, it contains a changelog, a forum post for the bootleg, list of applications, the raw default wallpaper and a single PortableApps configuration file.
There is WINNT.SIF on the CD root, which is configured to boot into a RAM disk from a disk image containing the live CD itself.
The autorun is removed.
The CD label is set to "WinXPLive".
