Manley Evangelista's Windows CE Bootable CD is a bootleg Windows CE boot CD distributed by Manley Evangelista. It released on August 3, 2013, and was added to the archive on February 26, 2023. It used to be available as a MEGA download on a YouTube video of his titled "Running Windows CE on a Dell laptop" with the original filename of "WinCEBoot x86.iso".

Description

Unlike most bootlegs which usually edit an existing Windows distribution, this one is a DR-DOS 7.03 based boot disk of 4 stock Windows CE versions which are booted using the LOADCEPC.EXE program which loads the kernel into RAM and boots it directly from RAM on the system. All of the images here (even DR-DOS) are all from the HPC Factor website, which were originally distributed separately in their own bootable VHD images.

On the first boot, you get detailed instructions on how to operate the boot disk and take advantage of its included executables along with a listing of the available Windows CE versions.

The four Windows CE versions are as follows:

Windows CE 3.0 (named "HPC2000" (even though it isn't Handheld PC 2000, but it's still not far off as it is based off of Windows CE 3.0) on the CD)
Windows CE 4.0 .NET (PDA) (named "WCE40PDA" on the CD)
Windows CE 4.0 .NET (Webpad) (named "WCE40WEB" on the CD)
Windows CE 5.0 (named "WCE50" on the CD)

The difference between the "PDA" and "Webpad" versions of Windows CE 4.0 .NET included on the CD is that the Webpad version was built with the Microsoft Messenger component as well while the PDA version was built with the regular E-mail POP3 Client component instead. The image names are exactly the same as the ones from the HPC Factor website as well.

Then there is a disclaimer for the first version that warns the user that the aforementioned version may not display correctly, as the display driver is not correctly configured on the NK.bin image therefore it is completely broken on all VGA cards, even though the images in question were made for Virtual PC's enhanced S3 Trio64 emulation, which includes special VM integration features exclusive to Virtual PC.

There is nothing else of note to document in this section, aside from it being the first Windows CE bootleg to be in the archive.

Remarks

There is a VESA test executable which prints all of the available screen resolutions that your Video BIOS can support. This is pre-included alongside LOADCEPC when making a boot disk using the Windows CE Platform Builder.
