Windows Vista Genius is a bootleg Windows XP SP2 edition, which was created by Mohamed Mostafa Salama. It released on February 10, 2008, and was added to the archive on April 6, 2024. It is the prequel to Windows XP Genius Edition 2010.
Description
The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP2 ISO, with post-SP2 updates integrated (advertised as Service Pack 3). It comes with a prominent light blue Windows Vista theme, along with a decently large set of programs, a matching icon/cursor/sound set and registry tweaks. It comes with a WPI. After the setup finishes, it will run on first boot.
It comes with a boot selector integrated. Through it, you can access Hiren's Boot CD 9.3 and Active@ Password Changer 2.1 (cracked). It comes with its own autorun.
It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite, the autorun was made with AutoPlay Media Studio 6.0.2.0 and the bootloader used was EasyBoot 5.0.
Changes from Windows XP SP2
Minor changes
- The text-mode setup OS text is changed to "Windows Vista Genius Edition". The copying text is now "copying Windows Vista Genius files...".
- OEM branding is included, along with Support Information. System Properties has a new design
- The run box has been completely changed. It now has a date selector.
- The Winver banner and bar is changed
- The shutdown, logoff and theme applying dialog graphics now have new graphics. This is also true for the default WindowBlinds skin that comes with this bootleg.

Notes
Remarks
- Keep in mind that some of the WPI programs, like Nero and WinRAR, have scripts that automatically move the mouse. For the programs to install properly, do not interrupt the scripts while it runs.
Bootleg quirks
- The 'vista.theme' theme doesn't work, because despite having a visual style for it, its theme file does not have a visual style path.
- This bootleg contains a hefty amount of Mega Man Battle Network imagery, specifically the main character MegaMan.EXE, with alternate forms of him appearing in setup phase.

- The ISO label is set to "Vista Genius".
- There is now a custom CD icon.
- There is a ISO cover GIF on the CD root. It spins really fast.
