Windows XP Alternative 12.5.2 (May 2012) is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by Alt_77. It released on May 27, 2012, and was added to the archive on December 31, 2023.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO, with UpdatePack-XPSP3-Rus 12.5.15 integrated. It comes with 5 themes, and some programs. It has many updates preintegrated. It comes with registry tweaks. It is unattended and preactivated.

It automatically sets OEM branding depending on your processor.

The ISO was made using nLite.

New default theme, which happens to be Windows Classic. It has been made brighter. The wallpaper is blank, and it is black.

Notes

Bootleg quirks

The setup finalization script does a numerous amount of things, such as:
- Disable DEP
- Re-enable the Guest account and allow it to network with other computers
- Allow ports 139/445/137/138
- Disable ZIPFLDR
- Apply Support Information on top of the automatically generated OEM branding
- Have the icon cache cleaner run once on startup
- And lastly, If .NET Framework exists, set it up for RunOnceEx along with DirectX.
The "Press any key to boot from CD" message now includes this bootleg's name at the end.
