Windows XP El-Samoray is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by Ahmed Shokry. It released on February 4, 2013, and was added to the archive on April 6, 2024.

Description

The bootleg is a stripped down Windows XP SP3 ISO, with DriverPacks version 12.06 integrated. It comes with 6 themes, 73 wallpapers, and many programs in its WPI. It comes with registry tweaks.

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite 1.4.9.1, and the ISO was created February 4, 2013 on 12:10:19.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

The text-mode setup strings have been extensively modified, even including the initial bootstrapper message. The OS text now reads "windows El.samoray xp 2013 by A.sh<", the last string shown in the status bar before cutting to the partition screen now says "thank u for using El.samoray$", partition screen OS text says "Windows El.samoraY XP Setup", and so on, and so on.

Notes

Bootleg quirks

In the WPI, half of the programs report warnings or failed to install messages. RocketDock will open a Flash projector for some reason. Foxit reports data errors.
My Computer, My Documents and My Network Places have been renamed to "damas computer ", "damas Documents" and "damas Network Places" respectively.
A menu entry named "win ElSamoray xp 2013**created by ahmed shokr" has been added to all folders' context menus.
The legal notice feature has been used here! The caption says "welcome to el.samoray xp by A.SH", and the text?

CD contents and other info

You can see the files CPQ32FS2.SYS and VIDEX32.SYS on the CD root. For what reason would they be there? Boot selector maybe? The world may never know.
The CD label is set to "elsamoray".
