Description

It is one of the earliest Windows XP SP1a bootlegs, along with Windows XP Gold 5.5 that it was released two months prior. It was designed to resemble early Longhorn builds from that period. It also has a Post-Install on it, which installs some programs, changes the boot screen and the boot.ini file, installs some registry tweaks, and drivers for VIA RAID controller (ostensibly for SATA support). Apart from those, it is mostly stock.

It is unattended and preactivated.

Notes

Remarks

  • This bootleg was obtained from a physical disc labeled "Microsoft Custom Windows XP 3.0".
    • The back cover of the disc where it originated featured this blurb:
With this release version of Microsoft Windows XP Professional Custom Made Edition 3.0 is an evaluation of Microsoft Windwos XP Professional Corporate Edition with Service Pack 1A and all critical updates to 25/12/03. New windows desktop theme will apply after installation, so enjoy the cool look.

Due to the fact we had squeeze all this on CD you are unable to upgrade from a previous verion. In conclusion you must clean install it.

Bugs fixed since last release: No T-13 inetserv extraction pop-up, Outlook no longer has the "Identity Switch Cancelled" error. Install folders will delete automatically. This version supports VIARAID SATA drivers. Everything is cool

Bootleg quirks

  • The bootleg is inconsistently named - the bootscreen refers to itself as "Windows FD Professional", while the wallpaper refers to itself as "Windows FD Deluxe".
  • All files and directories on the disc are all set to December 31, 2002, except for few files and folders in the Office 2003 installer, which has date of February 13, 2004, indicating the disc's building date/period.

WINNT.SIF metadata

  • The full name is set to "comp".
  • The workgroup name is set to "WORKGROUP".
