Windows The Avengers is a bootleg Windows XP edition, released sometime in 2014. It is known for having a comically bad installer and theme, and for possibly birthing various bootleg offsprings.
Description
As the name suggests, the OS is themed after The Avengers, specifically the 2012 film. Appropriately, the OS comes with several themes based on that movie (along with some other unrelated themes). By default, the theme is set to an Windows 7 Aero-esque style complete with transparent borders and effects. Whenever the user opens a program, the program's icon will fly around the desktop briefly before appearing off screen.
Despite the fact that the OS itself is in English, several pieces of software bundled with the OS comes installed in Arabic.
Changes from Windows XP
- The Windows XP installer has been heavily modified if not entirely replaced.
- The default theme is similar of that to the Windows 7 aero theme.
- The background has been replaced with a promotional image for the Marvel movie The Avengers from 2012, slightly altered to include the author's name.
- The "logging on" screen has been replaced with Marvel characters.
- The "Computer", "Network", "Recycle Bin", "Control Panel", and user folder icons have all been changed.
- "My Computer", "My Documents", and "My Network Places" have been replaced with "Avengers Computer", "Avengers Documents", and "Avengers Network Places" respectively.
- Various system elements have been altered to be larger and changed to have Marvel characters.
