Windows XP SP3 Compact Edition is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created by YLMF. It released on May 8th, 2008, and was added to the archive on November 23rd, 2022.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO. It has had a boot selector integrated into it, which allows you to pick several utilities to use (such as Norton Ghost, Partition Magic, and even a homemade MS-DOS live CD, and more). It has minimal changes, only a theme and wallpaper, and some drivers and updates here and there, but that's about it. It is unattended and preactivated.

The ISO was made using nLite, the autorun was made with AutoPlay Menu Loader 5.1.0.341, and the boot selector used was EasyBoot v5.1.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

  • New default theme (which replaces Luna entirely), and wallpaper
  • OEM branding is included

Software

Updates

  • DirectX 9

Notes

  • There is a batch file named "WINNT.BAT" on the CD root that launches the legacy Windows setup.
  • There are two programs in the "Tools" folders on the CD root, which is a cracked version of Driver Genius, and a homemade file backup/restore program.
  • Due to a mistake, NLDRV will extract to the WINDOWS directory.
