Gold Windows XP 2016 is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created as part of the Gold Windows XP series by Muhammad Sadeem of Computer Worm Corporation. It released on August 29, 2015 (though it was being developed a month before that), and was added to the archive on August 6, 2022.
It is one of the most famous Windows XP bootlegs, and was featured on many YouTube channels and other places, and is widely known around the world. The default theme in the bootleg is infamous for being painful to look at with its strange colors and weird-looking window buttons, which contributed to its popularity, along with the loud music that the WPI has and many of its other quirks, which cemented this mod as a classic example of a typical over-the-top Windows bootleg.
As it turns out, this bootleg is actually part of a series, dating back to 2009.
Description
The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO, which includes many new programs, games, wallpapers, updates and tweaks. It is most known for its excessively golden look, but it has other non-golden themes included.
On the first boot of the OS, a runonce segment taken from Windows XP Black Edition will run.
It comes with its own autorun, and a WPI with many programs on it. It comes with registry tweaks.
It is unattended and preactivated. The ISO was made using nLite 1.4.9.3, and the DLLs were edited with an unregistered copy of Resource Tuner 2.

- There is another similarly gold themed bootleg called Windows 7 Gold Edition 2016, which released 3 months before.
Bootleg quirks
- This bootleg takes advantage of a lot of Windows XP Black Edition's features (Windows XP BE Control Panel Addons, BitLocker to Go Reader, etc).
CD contents and other info
- The WPI folder is hidden by default, but in an unusual way. You will have to use the autorun or the address bar (just type in
D:\Gold, replace D with the drive letter your CD drive is on) to access it normally. You also to have the CD inserted in physically, or via a virtual CD drive. - Adobe Flash Player 18's repacked installer will not let you install it anywhere else except Gold Windows XP 2016.
- The WPI plays a song called "O Allah the Almighty Allahu Allah" during installation, which has been turned up really loud.
