He was arrested on August 15, 2008 by Chinese police for piracy, which was at the time called "the nation's biggest software piracy case". He was sentenced to three years in prison. After this, TomatoLei retired from bootlegging entirely. His website, tomatolei.com, is still active and provides downloads to his custom Android ROMs.
