Windows 8 xTreme (also referred to as Windows 8 Pre Xtreme Edition and Windows 8 Ultimate Xtreme Edition) is a bootleg Windows 7 RTM edition, which was created by Skat666. It released on August 28, 2009. It was once considered lost, but on December 3, 2022, it was discovered in parts on Chomikuj.pl by mv, and was added to the archive on the same day. Despite its name, this OS actually came out 3 years before Windows 8 was even announced.
Description
The bootleg is a modified Windows 7 RTM ISO. It comes with a new theme along with 2 other ones, along with the SCSI Pass Through Direct driver on the CD. That's pretty much it. The description claims it comes with "over 200 softwares", and claims it doesn't remove anything from Windows 7. None of the former can be seen in this mod. It comes with registry tweaks, which get applied during the OOBE finalization.
Like Windows 8 Halloween Psycho, this bootleg does not have many changes, but it released a month after Windows 7 RTM did, making this mod one of the first Windows 7 bootlegs made along with Tiny7 and Windows 7 Black Edition 2009 R1.
The bootleg comes with multiple SKUs, Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate. The last one is the only one with changes.

Look and feel
- The Windows Basic theme has a new wallpaper. The default Windows 7 theme uses SiCo Big's style, it is available as its own installed theme. Architectures (4 wallpapers, 2 others which are Zone identifiers probably renamed by mistake), Characters (6), Landscapes (6) and Scenes (6) all have new wallpapers, which replace the stock ones.

Notes
Bootleg quirks
- If you don't have Aero already enabled from the get-go, you will get Windows Basic instead, which has a unique wallpaper only available there. The default Aero theme is just SiCo Big.
- Quite a few things have been renamed, such as the start menu's search bar now being called "xTreme Power Search Engine", and the Control Panel "xTreme Panel".
