Windows XP Black Edition (Ramsey, 2012-03-17) is a bootleg Windows XP SP3 edition, which was created as part of the Integral Edition series by Ramsey. It originally released on August 20, 2008, and this build of this bootleg released on March 17, 2012, and was added to the archive on November 15, 2023.

Windows XP Black Edition was this bootleg's former name before it changed to Windows XP Integral Edition on September 12, 2015. In the very beginning, it was Windows XP Pirate Edition, until it got changed on January 24, 2009.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO with DriverPacks version 12.03, Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack (QFE) version 20120313, OnePiece WMP Update Pack 2.5.0 and OnePiece IE8 Update Pack 3.2.0 integrated. It aims to provide the absolute best experience of Windows XP possible, making it as fully up to date as possible and adding many new programs, security updates, etc.

It comes with its now ubiquitous RunOnce segment. The main star of the show is the Auto Setup, which is a series of automated installations and extra tweaks performed by a batch script which runs once on the first boot. It is presented in a bright lime green color, and there is a goblin prominently grabbing the bar that tells you what portion of the automatic setup it is on. It is so good, that Gold Windows XP 2016 copied it! It also comes with extra programs and preconfigured settings (registry tweaks), both of which you are asked to choose if you want them or not by the RunOnce segment. The setup will proceed differently depending on the options you pick.

You can view the full procedure of the Auto Setup and every step it does (including the extra programs/preconfigured settings) further down below.

It is preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite.

Full Auto Setup Documentation

Auto Setup

The first 2 steps go for all of the other sections.

  1. Set color to 10 (bright green) and move to the path the script is running in via PUSHD.
  2. First, wait 3 full seconds before doing anything.
  3. Then, add registry keys to run the Regional and Language Options and Date and Time applets once, so the user may configure it to their liking.
  4. Install the MF4SBF Patch (Microsoft .NET Framework v4 - Slow Windows XP Boot Fix) into the All Users' Startup folder. What the patch does is it looks for the NGEN service and disables it, as it causes slowdown issues.
  5. Run the fixmapi utility and register inetcomm.dll, this is because Outlook Express has been removed from the distribution and these commands are required to be ran after doing so.
  6. Set the Password Expires flag to false on the Owner account (the default account).
  7. Execute the DriverPacks Finisher.
  8. Execute the Extra Programs Dialog Box, then the Preconfigured Settings Dialog Box. Both of these are HTA applications. Documentation for both of the corresponding sections will be provided below.
  9. And lastly, if everything went well, skip to the FINISH label which will print a message indicating that the Auto Setup is finished. Wait 3 seconds, and initiate a shutdown which counts down from 27 seconds, the message of which tells the user to remove the disc from the optical disk drive.

Extra Programs

  • See this subsection in the Software section.

Preconfigured Settings

  1. Copy extra custom setting files to a new folder called Custom Settings in Documents and Settings. There are also extra VBS files that get copied to a new subfolder called Scripts.
    1. Also, if you didn't install the Extra Programs earlier in the Auto Setup, setting scripts and anything else pertaining to them will not get copied over.
  2. Add a RunOnce entry to run the "New Created User Account Settings" script into Default User's NTUSER.DAT registry hive.
  3. Copy "RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS TO INSTALL.txt" to the Desktop. What this text file contains is self-explanatory.
  4. Install the custom themes (spelled as costume in the batch script).
  5. Execute 4 scripts which all pertain to system and user settings for Windows XP and the Extra Programs (if you installed them earlier). What they contain will also be documented down below.
  6. Skip to FINISH label.
