Windows XP Fannan NewLook 6 is a part of the XP Fannan series, which was created by Ahmed Elfannan (real name: Ahmad Mohammad Abdul Hadi). It released on August 7, 2011, and was added to the archive on November 25, 2022.

Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO.

It comes with 300 themes and wallpapers, which is only available in the "New Look" version, which is part of the "OS look configuration" system in place in this bootleg. It is one of its kind, for sure. All other versions do not have these extras. There have been many new programs included, which can be installed through the new software installer exclusive to "New Look", which will appear on the first boot. You can access the programs in "Fannan Run Menu".

It comes with a boot selector integrated. It is entirely in Arabic language. Through it, you can access Symantec Ghost 11.5.1 (cracked, registered to Imran I jaz). You can either boot straight into Ghost or perform two tasks with it: either backup a particular partition on a drive, or restore a disk image from a backup. You can also access the author's email information by simply clicking the author's Live email address.

On the first boot of the OS, you will be initially presented with a paragraph explaining how the bootleg is designed to provide the best possible experience for the user and how much the author wants you to use it in a positive way and appreciate it out of the goodness of your heart.

Then, you will be presented with 3 OS configurations to choose from:

"SP3", which is just the regular version of "XP Fannan" without any extra content (themes, wallpapers & programs),
And the main focus: "New Look", which has all the extra content included. It has an interesting feature where you can make the login and boot screen graphics cycle every boot if you want to. By default, the login wallpaper will cycle. The new boot screen (separate from the 'cycle' ones) is not enabled by default, you have to do it through Smart-Fannan in the Start menu. Using the icon in the dock before 'Dock Settings', you can switch between 2 docks: RunMe 0.8.5 and RocketDock 1.3.1.
There is also the "Lite" version, which is a stripped down version of "New Look", purportedly meant for internet cafes. Only 3 programs from the full version are included, along with AIMP 2.61 build 570 and FannFox lite (based on Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1). It has the default theme from "New Look".

Once you've picked an OS configuration, the configuration process will be started. Depending on what you've selected, it might not take very long. There is a finalization segment to this process, which involves finishing touches, such as installing Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 11 in the case of Fannan SP3.

Afterwards if you pick NewLook, you will have to scroll through many pages of information which explain various parts of the OS, which seem to take longer than it really does. One of them being is, that you are told to hide the desktop icons in favor of using the dock at the top because it's allegedly easier to use. No seriously, that is actually something the mod tells you to do. It will also tell you about the newly added "My Computer" toolbar link in the taskbar, where you are recommended to use it to access all of your documents and files... through the taskbar. That sounds equally as useful as solely accessing your icons through the dock. Anyway, it will also tell you about a user link (Smart-Fannan) in the Start menu, where you can access a small collection of programs, and various other things, including the boot/login feature as mentioned earlier.

After all of that, you will be offered the option to install additional drivers (using Easy Driverpack) if you want to.

It is unattended and preactivated. The ISO was made using nLite and Windows Unattended CD Creator 0.9.8, and the boot selector used was Aero Studio 2007 2.01.

Bootleg quirks

DownThemAll! Scheduler 0.2.7, Flashblock 1.5.14.2 and URL Tooltip 1.2.1 is incompatible with FannFox, but it is still included anyway.

CD contents and other info

There is a folder on the CD root titled "Covers + Serial". Along with the serial key (which is identical to the one specified in WINNT.SIF), there are slightly modified versions of the regular Windows XP SP3 box covers.
The CD has a custom folder background, which is stored in the same place as "Covers + Serial".
There is a folder on the CD root titled "Secrets", which contains many pictures of women with the "Fannan NewLook" branding plastered onto it, among other things.
The CD label is set to "الویندوز الجدید Fanan NewLook 5".
The CD label has its own icon (Sharingan).

WINNT.SIF metadata

The full name and organization is set to "Fannan 6 System" and "Ahmed Elfannan" respectively.
