Description

The bootleg is a modified Windows XP SP3 ISO, with Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack (QFE) version 20120814 and OnePiece IE8 Update Pack 2011 integrated. It comes with a Windows 7 theme and additional software, which you can install through a desktop shortcut. It comes with registry tweaks.

XPlode v4 will run during Setup, which will install a series of programs.

It comes with a new boot selector integrated, where you can access:

1. A primitive version of Hiren's Boot CD (MasterMIND Always)
2. PartitionMagic 8.0 build 1242
   • a Windows 98 boot floppy by Dave from December 5, 2002. It extracts PartitionMagic using UNRAR 2.50 to a 4MB RAM disk, made in XMS Ramdisk 1.9i.
3. Norton Ghost 2003 (cracked, registered to lk of bap)
   • a Windows ME boot floppy from February 25, 2003. It will first run MOUSE.COM, then Norton Ghost.
4. the Windows 98 Startup Disk (stock)
5. the Windows ME Startup Disk
   • a Windows ME emergency boot floppy with MS-DOS Arabic Support Version 1.0 by Ahmad Atef, from August 3, 2003. The disk has been slightly tampered with. There are modified files from July 3, 2006.
6. and Norton Commander 5.0
   • a Windows 98 boot floppy from January 9, 2008. The stock autoexec.bat has been edited to launch Norton Commander off the CD (D:\NC is in the path, there are bundled CD-ROM drivers in the floppy) after initialization.

It is unattended and preactivated. The bootleg was made using nLite, and the boot selector used was Aero Studio 2007 2.01 on January 18, 2013 @ 14:00:52 GMT. The ISO was modified using UltraISO 9.3.2.2656 on March 3, 2013 @ 19:32:48. The OOBE video was made with Windows Movie Maker 2.1.4026.0 on March 26, 2011 @ 13:59:24 UTC.

Changes from Windows XP SP3

Minor changes

• The text-mode setup OS text has been changed to "Windows Al-Mohtaref By . Basim Magdy Setup"
• The text-mode setup status bar's "Copying" text is now "Windows Al-Mohtaref:"
• The Internet Explorer title has been changed
• System Properties has been rearranged. New banners added to the top and the bottom right.
• OEM branding is added, along with Support Information. The Support Information button now says "Windows Al-Mohtaref".
• The Run icon is changed. The Run dialog now has a banner
• The Winver dialog is now just one big static picture.
• RocketDock, ViGlance and Autorun Protection will run every startup

Changes done by registry tweaks (WIP)

• The default user's wallpaper is now set to \windows\system32\Smsm.bmp, which will cause said image to appear before the login screen.
• The registered organization and owner are set to "01111867120" and "Basim Magdy" respectively.
• The security warning popups when running files have been disabled.
• The Windows Security Center has been disabled.
• Anti-virus and firewall notifications have been disabled.
• The "Search Windows Update for Drivers" prompt has been disabled.
• The antivirus and firewall overrides have been enabled.
• The "Send Information to the Internet" prompt has been disabled.
• The Internet Connection Wizard has been marked complete.
• The number of maximum connections to a HTTP server is raised to 10, and the number of maximum connections to a HTTP 1.0 server is raised to 10.
• The NTFS last access timestamp will no longer be recorded.
• Create an empty Group Policy Objects\LocalUser\Software registry key for the DisableWindowsUpdateAccess policy.
• Windows Update has been disabled, both declared in HKCU and HKLM.
• Create empty Windows Update policy keys both in HKLM and HKCU.
• Device Manager will no longer automatically update drivers through Windows Update.
• Machine and user group policies are no longer synchronous.
• Microsoft Outlook for Office 10.0 will now minimize to the system tray.
• Registration information for The Lost Watch 3D Screensaver is now supplied (???) (registered to Michael Marcus). Empty 3Planesoft registry key is also made.
• NumLock will now activate when Windows starts.
• The number of maximum connections to a HTTP server is raised to 10, and the number of maximum connections to a HTTP 1.0 server is raised to 10. (duplicate)
• Windows Media Player will no longer ask you to update the player.
• Windows Explorer will now open its windows in separate processes.
• The delay before menus show up is now instant.
• The dialog that opens before the debugger is invoked for when a program crashes is now enabled.
• The amount of time to wait to kill a service is set to 200 milliseconds.
• The taskbar is now unlocked, and will no longer group similar taskbar buttons.
• The AM and PM labels are set to "صباحاً" and "مساءاً" respectively.
• Internet Explorer will keep URL history up to 50 days.
• Machine and user group policies are no longer synchronous. (duplicate)
• When shutting down the system, all tasks will be automatically ended. The time until hung apps are killed is 100 milliseconds, and the timeout before hung apps are gracefully terminated is 1 second. The amount of time to wait to kill a service is set to 1 second, overwriting the 200 milliseconds value from earlier.
• Hide Scheduled Tasks and Printers and Faxes in network shares for faster network browsing.
• The My Computer, My Documents, My Network Places and Internet Explorer icons will now show by default.

Remarks

• According to strings in a leftover database for SoftPerfect Networx that the author left in, we can confirm that Basim Magdy used Windows XP Fannan NewLook 6 as his main OS at the time he made this bootleg. (the reported username is "Fannan6", the author was testing it on his main computer before he put it into this bootleg)

Bootleg quirks

• One of the setup billboard slides is dedicated to the author's sister, Ansi.
• The fourth line in the System Properties's System section is supposed to be "Service Pack 5", but it gets overwritten with "Windows 7 Pro" instead.
• The System Properties's "Professional" string has been replaced with "Egyption".
• There is an extra "Windows Al-Mohtaref" string before the first line of System Properties's Registered to section.
• The WinRAR repack comes with a registry script which will run after the setup is finished. It will change WinRAR's display title in Add and Remove Programs to "WinRAR 4.20 (32-bit) *** Compiled By . Basim Magdy".
• The buttons' labels in the boot selector are barely readable - they're black text, while the background behind them has mostly dark red colors.
• The "NC Commander" button in the boot selector contains a redundant acronym.
• The Norton Ghost floppy comes with the text editor Ed, but is never used.
